Open Educational Resources (OER) are defined by UNESCO as "teaching, learning and research materials in any medium, digital or otherwise, that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions." Use this guide to explore authoritative resources that you can use in your courses.
- To save your students money. Use of OER in courses has saved University System of Georgia students over $55 million so far!
- To enhance your Blackboard courses. OER can be integrated and linked in Blackboard. Course readings are only a click away!
- To give your students a richer, more interactive classroom experience online. Many OER have an interactive component.
Believe it or not, nearly everything you find online is someone's intellectual property. Creative Commons is a way that content creators can easily communicate to users how their copyrighted online work can be used and shared. It is a great way for you to know at a glance how you can use online information. Licensing types
